Conservation Gardening Services
One hour consultation:
I will meet at your home to walk your property with you, discuss your goals, talk through general options, and offer first impression suggestions. A summary of recommendations, and a packet of resources and educational information will be mailed to you at a later date.
Small/medium native garden installation:
I install gardens that do not require heavy labor, equipment/machinery, or heavy lifting. For a large or complex installation, I can refer you to other professionals who do prep for larger gardens.
Native garden (gardens of all sizes) stewardship:
My services include the care and stewardship of your native planting, including scouting for and removing weeds/invasive species, occasional reseeding or the addition of vegetation (at cost), editing for the health of the planting and/or aesthetics, and other tasks as deemed necessary. While I charge by the hour, a monthly “do not exceed” arrangement is available.
Small native garden design selection from available templates:
There are several very good no-cost, pre-designed native garden templates as well as predesigned gardens (plants included) available for purchase through various sources. Based on the location of your garden, soil type, etc., I can recommend options for you to consider. If your project is large-scale and requires the services of a landscape architect to render the best result, I can refer you to professionals who are experienced in designing with native plants. While many designers may claim to understand native vegetation, few actually have the decades of experience necessary to understand how to skillfully design an ecologically sound and aesthetic landscape plan.

Some Important Notes about My Services: It is important to clarify what services I do not offer: lawn maintenance, turf grass removal, large-scale invasive species removal, fertilizing, tree and shrub trimming or removal, removal of leaves or other natural “debris,” and hardscaping. I do not offer services in environments that are incompatible with conservation gardening, such as in landscapes in which insecticides are used (even spraying for mosquitoes or using organic insecticides). But for a very few exceptions, I do not use non-native plants (including most nativars) in plantings/designs nor do I offer stewardship services of gardens that are comprised mostly of non-native vegetation. I offer services in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. |
